Year Six Camp – Fairbridge Village, Pinjarra

Last week, Year 6 students embarked on their annual Year 6 camp held at Fairbridge Village, Pinjarra. For 3 days and 2 nights, students participated in team building activities, high and low ropes courses, rock climbing, leadership skills, the Big Swing, Flying Fox, archery and orienteering challenges. We also enjoyed a Mothers’ Day liturgy, a quiz night and a very quirky Talent Show. Although we had a few tired eyes at the end, there were plenty of smiles and new friendships forged. A big thank you to Mrs Kilpatrick and Ms Thomson for joining us on camp.

This week in Year 6, we have been exploring our class novel: ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ by Katherine Paterson. The novel explores the lives of Jesse Aarons and Leslie Burke, two kids who create an imaginary kingdom called ‘Terabithia’ to escape the difficulties of their world. Students have developed Character MindMaps, designed their own front covers and explored how authors used tension to engage a reader and build upon the plot.

The success the school enjoys is, in large part, due to the interest and involvement of you, the parents, in the many varied activities and experiences organised for the children.
