Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people,
so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.
Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation
as they listen to Your voice.
Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfillment
the good work that You have begun in them.
As we prepare these children for Confirmation,
make each of us an instrument of Your love.
Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others,
and to be patient with what we do not understand.
Deepen our faith in the Gospel
and help us to pass it on by our example.
We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.

Happy Book Week!

2025 Confirmation

I join with all of our school community in wishing the Confirmation candidates from the school and the parish all the best for the upcoming Sacrament on Sunday 24 August commencing at 9:30am. The children have been well prepared by Miss Montgomery, Miss Sutton and Sr Sahaya. All Sacraments are Parish-based celebrations of our faith. Thank you to Father Joe for his leadership and preparation of this Mass.

Parent Interviews Week 9

Acting on feedback from staff and parents, this year we are offering parents a second formal opportunity to meet with their students’ teachers to discuss their academic progress, share learning examples, and celebrate growth. Parents will be able to book an interview with their child’s class teacher and/or their child’s specialist teacher during Week 9:
Monday 15 Sept 1:30 – 4:30pm
Tuesday 16 Sept 3:15 – 4:00pm
Wednesday 17 Sept 3:15 – 4:00pm
Thursday 18 Sept 1:30 – 4:30pm

The booking link will be shared with parents on 1 September.

No Children’s Liturgy this Sunday

Due to the celebration of Confirmation on Sunday, 24 August, there will be no Children’s Liturgy this weekend.

Stage 1 Sandpit

A big thank you to Michael Saunders, who volunteered his time to work on our sandpit/long jump pit on Saturday. This is the first stage of the redevelopment of the sand pit/long jump pit.

Socktober Activities Thursday 18 September

Last term, we were visited by Shendelle Mullane (Diocesan Director Catholic Missions – Diocese of Bunbury) as part of our preparation for our Socktober Fundraising. On Thursday 18 September, students from Year 1 to Year 6 will be taking part in activities focused on the work of the Catholic Missions. Parents are asked to please give generously to this worthy charity. More information will come out soon.

Fathers’ Day Breakfast 2 September

Our wonderful P&F are once again inviting all of our father-figures to join our students for a yummy Fathers’ Day Breakfast before school on Monday 2 September. More information will be provided closer to this date.

Athletics Carnivals

The St Matthew’s School Faction Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 9 September (Jumps and Throws) at school and Thursday 11 September at Thomas Hogg Oval on Bannister Street, Narrogin. Last Friday, information about these carnivals was posted on the school app. We ask that parents read this carefully to ensure that they fully understand the selection process, significant dates and how they can help.

St Matthew’s Feast Day/Open Day 23 September

Every year we celebrate our Feast day in September. This year, we would like to celebrate our beautiful community with an Open Day and Cultural Afternoon Tea. Festivities will commence at 2:00pm with performances from our school choir and rock band. Families and community members will then have an opportunity to visit our learning spaces and view all the amazing work our students have completed whilst learning about different cultural groups.

Families are invited to bring in cultural dishes to share with the community for afternoon tea. Parents would need to supply a list of ingredients with each dish to ensure we protect our students and staff with food allergies. Families would only need to supply a small plate of cultural delights to share.

Date: 23 September

Time: 2:00 – 4:30 pm, commencing in the Sr Isobel School Hall.

More information will come out via the school app in the next couple of weeks.
