St Matthew’s School Narrogin

School Vision

St Matthew’s School empowers children to embrace life-long learning, and grow and develop as God intends.

This prayer is chosen to acknowledge the Ascension of the Lord.

The Ascension of the Lord celebrates the moment when Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven 40 days after His Resurrection, in the presence of His Apostles. It is a central mystery of the Paschal season and a major solemnity in the Catholic Church.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ,
Right before your Ascension into heaven you told your apostles to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth upon receiving the Holy Spirit.
May I be similarly inspired to spread your Gospel message in word and deed, according to your will for me.
And may I do so prudently and joyfully, with your help, your guidance, and your grace!
And remembering this glorious event, help me to seek what is above, Heaven, where you are seated at the right hand of God the Father!
Amen

Dear Parents & Carers,

Welcome to Week 5!

Parent/Teacher Interview Thank you

A big thank you to all of our parents and carers who attended these interviews in Weeks 2 and 3. The staff value these opportunities to celebrate learning and share any concerns.

The next formal interviews will occur in Term 3, however, please be reminded that all parents and carers can schedule teacher appointments. Please contact the relevant teacher via email. All staff emails are listed on the school app – General – Meet the 2026 Staff.

Welcome Mrs Goodman

This week, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Grace Goodman as the new Year 5 class teacher. Mrs Goodman is a familiar face within our
community, as she has two children who currently attend St Matthew’s. We are excited to welcome her  and confident she will be a wonderful addition to the school.

Annual Community Meeting (ACM) Changes

As part of CEWA’s commitment to streamline practices, it has been determined that from 2026, Annual Community Meetings (ACMs) for CSACs and P&Fs will no longer be held. This change follows feedback regarding low attendance and participation throughout Western Australia, and stronger practices to promote community engagement, transparency and collaboration in Catholic schools.

More information can be read on the school app.

Pupil Free Days –  Friday, 29 May and Tuesday, 2 June

Please be advised that Friday, 29 May and Tuesday, 2 June will both be Pupil Free Days. All staff will be participating in professional learning focused on the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). These professional learning days support our teachers in strengthening inclusive practices and ensuring we continue to meet the learning needs of all students. Students will not attend school on the Pupil Free Days, and we thank families for their understanding and support.

In addition, Monday 1 June is a Public Holiday (WA Day).

Winter Carnival Years 4 – 6

On 2 July, all students in Years 4 – 6 will participate in the 2026 Winter Carnival, together with other local schools. Each child will be playing one of four sports: hockey, soccer, football or netball. The event will be held at the sporting facilities on Clayton Road, Narrogin. Please contact Amber Moulton (amber.moulton@cewa.edu.au) if you are available to coach a team, or lend a hand.

2027 Kindy Enrolments

Enrolments for Kindergarten 2027 are being accepted. Due to a large number of enquiries, families wishing to be included on the list for a Kindy Enrolment Interview must ensure that a completed enrolment pack is received by Friday, 14 August.

Enrolment interviews provide families with the opportunity to learn more about our Kindy curriculum and school procedures, and, most importantly, allow us to warmly welcome new families into the St Matthew’s community.

Applications for enrolment are considered in the following order:

  1. Catholic students from St Matthew’s Parish
  2. Catholic students from other parishes
  3. Siblings of non‑Catholic students already enrolled
  4. Non‑Catholic students from other Christian denominations
  5. Other non‑Catholic students

Parents who choose to apply for enrolment at St Matthew’s School accept that they will abide by the policies and practices of Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) and the School Leadership Team while their child is enrolled. Families are encouraged to speak with the Principal if they have any questions regarding school policies or practices.

If you know of families who may be ready to send their little ones to Kindy, please encourage them to visit the School Office to collect an enrolment pack.
