Kindy Fathers Night

What fun we had last night when our Kindy children brought along their dads to our special Father’s Night. It was an action packed fun-filled happy night! The children painted dads hand, decorated biscuits and made some  amazing wood work creations and box creations.

They made a helicopter and loved dad lifting them up to see how it spins around when they dropped it. They even treated dad to  a shave. We sang some songs to Dad and presented all our dads with a trophy for being a number 1 Dad!

This was followed by a yummy sausage sizzle and ice cream for dinner.

What a fun night.

Thank you to all our wonderful Dads.

Happy fathers day!!!

Mathematics Extension Olympiads

On Tuesday last week, the Math’s Extension group took part in the fourth Olympiad competition for 2019. Each of these involves trying to solve 5 quite difficult problems in 30 minutes, under test conditions. These Year 5 and 6 students enjoy the challenge involved with this, and each time strive to match or improve on their previous scores.

The top scorer for Olympiad 4 was Hamish Sewell with 3 out of 5. The second top score of 2 out of 5 was shared by Haizelmary Ani Jacob, Cody Heywood and Maddy Shepherd. Well done to all these children!

We look forward to the final Olympiad for 2019, Olympiad 5, on 10 September. Good luck to all our team members!

Interschool Hockey

On Tuesday 20th August, 16 selected students from Years 4-6 participated in the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association, NAB Hockey Cup. St Matthew’s entered 1 girls’ team and 1 boys’ team to compete against Lake Grace Primary School, East Narrogin Primary School and Narrogin Primary School. Each team played 6 games, showing growth and improvement with every game. All children displayed exceptional sportsmanship and had a terrific time making new friends while playing some great hockey. St Matthew’s won the boys competition and the girls were very competitive, finishing fourth. Congratulations to Jacob Oates and Lottie Dowling on their sportsmanship awards. A big thank you to all the students for their wonderful behavior and to Mrs. Keppel for her assistance on the day.
