St Matthew’s School Narrogin

Kindy Excursion to the AG Farm

There was great excitement on Tuesday morning when the Kindy children boarded the bus for their first ever school excursion!! We arrived at the Narrogin Agriculture College just in time for a special morning tea of fruit and doughnuts! Miss McDonald welcomed us all and then took us for a tour of the college. We loved seeing the bull calves and the little foals. We did of lots of walking and saw different machinery. We all got to climb up onto the big red tractor which was lots of fun!

After our picnic lunch we visited the little piglets and saw a sheep being shorn. We then headed to the big chicken shed. We couldn’t count all the chickens we saw, there were so many. We even got to hold some fluffy baby chicks. We thought they were so cute. We then collected all the eggs. We bought some eggs to take back to Kindy, and we will make scrambled eggs on Thursday. We had some very tired Kindy friends when we arrived back at Kindy later in the afternoon, but not too tired to enjoy a yummy ice-cream to finish our wonderful day!

What is Socktober?

Socktober is an initiative of Catholic Mission and one way which St Matthew’s School can fundraise and engage in advocacy and formation activities for Catholic Mission during World Mission Month in October.

During Week 3 (28 – 31 October), each class will be given a sock to try to fill with monetary donations in an effort to “Sock it to Poverty” in Uganda. Perhaps children could be encouraged to pop in some of their pocket money, or their change from the canteen?
