St Matthew’s School Competes Strongly At Great Southern Primary School Cup

On Friday 6 August, a team of Year Six girls was joined by coach, Mrs Annear, umpire, Imogen Annear and teacher, Mr Collins to compete in the Great Southern Primary School Netball Cup, which is held annually at Katanning Leisure Centre.

The event included 31 teams who came from schools all over the South West from Albany to Narrogin and everywhere in between.

St Matthew’s participated strongly in their pool,  winning two games out of three, losing the first to Great Southern Grammar, but bouncing back against Narrogin Primary and Mt Barker Community College. St Matthew’s School then played Mt Lockyer in the semi-final for the right to play in the grand final. The semi-final was backwards and forwards with Mt Lockyer winning in the end by three goals. They eventually lost to Great Southern Grammar in the Grand Final.

The girls had lots of fun during the day, making new friends, and enjoyed cheering on the other Narrogin teams. It was long day but a thoroughly enjoyable one!

Mr Mark Collins
