St Matthew’s Boys Win Grand Final At CSBP Wheatbelt Hockey Cup

On Tuesday 17 August, St Matthew’s School sent three hockey teams to the CSBP Wheatbelt Hockey Cup at the Bevan George Pavilion. Teams included students from Year 4 to Year 6, and twelve teams participated from towns as far away as Kojonup.

Teams from St Matthew’s School participated in two divisions – boys, and mixed. The St Matthew’s boys’ team were the overall winners in their division. In the mixed division, St Matthew’s 1 came 4th and St Matthew’s 2 came 2nd, losing a close Grand Final to Narrogin Primary School 1-0.

The weather was fine, and a great day was had by all. The students received a special visit from Hockeyroos player, Penny Squibb. She signed sticks, and chatted to the various students.

One Big Voice

Our wonderful St Matt’s School Choir travelled to Perth on Friday to perform with 4000 WA students in the One Big Voice Concert. They enjoyed a whirlwind day travelling from Narrogin to Fremantle Prison to Kings Park, and finished with the incredible One Big Voice Concert. What a bunch of superstar kids we have at St Matt’s!

St Matthew’s Competes Strongly at State Cross Country

On Thursday 12 August St Matthew’s School students Matthew from Year 4 and Kate  from Year 5 represented our school at the state cross country championships in Perth.

Kate and Matthew were eligible to compete at this major event due to their top four finishes at the interschool cross country event in late May.

Kate and Matthew had to navigate 2.5km and 2km courses respectively. They ran around grassy sports fields, with some hills to negotiate. Matthew achieved 10th place – a wonderful achievement considering the 296 participants in the race. Kate came 179th in a field of over 300.

Well done, Matthew and Kate. It made our school proud to see you represent our school so strongly!

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all of our Honour Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you.
