Narrogin Festival of Soccer

Several St Matthew’s boys represented Narrogin on Saturday 19 March at the Narrogin Festival of Soccer as the first ever junior team to play for the area.
They played a strong Collie side in the Under 12’s match and, although they were down 4-0 in the first half, they fought back to finish 4-2.
Well done, boys!!!

Year 6 STEM Shoe Challenge

Throughout the term,  Year 6 have been investigating a “world problem”. They were given a scenario that highlighted the lack of shoe availability when people are displaced from their homes during conflict, famine or other uncontrollable circumstances, often finding themselves accommodated within refugee camps.

The class set about researching materials, types of shoes and conditions that refugees find themselves living in. They then used this research to come up with 3 designs of possible shoes that could be made using only objects found within a typical refugee camp scene.

Once the shoes were made, we set about testing them on the obstacle course set by Mrs D’Alton.  There were mixed results and many of our designs didn’t stand up to the rigorous testing procedure. Next week, we will review our results and discuss what materials and designs would better suit the conditions we encountered.

Swimming Lessons

Congratulations to all of our Year 3 to Year 6 students for taking part in their swimming lessons last week. We are all very proud of their efforts. I would also like to thank all of the parents who ensured their children had the required items. We know it is tricky to get everything clean, dry and organised.

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all our Honour Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you. Individual photos of recipients have been uploaded to SeeSaw.

Art Award

Congratulations to Aticia (Year 3) for receiving the Art Award for her impressive harmony hand design.
