NAPLAN

We wish our Year 3 and Year 5 students all the best for their upcoming NAPLAN assessments. Students and parents are encouraged to keep NAPLAN in perspective and are reminded that it is just another assessment to aid student learning. Students are encouraged to do their best.

While there is a large amount of negativity toward NAPLAN, especially in the media, it serves as an important part of your child’s learning journey as it helps teachers, school leaders, and policymakers decide what areas of student learning need focus. It is important to realise that students complete a variety of assessments at St Matthew’s School. Some are written assessments similar to NAPLAN, some are oral speeches, posters, or creative presentations. NAPLAN tests are simply another assessment and should be treated as such. Through all these assessments, teachers make observations and review data to better inform their teaching practices.

P&F Mother’s Day Fundraiser

Please support our Mother’s Day Fundraiser Stall on Wednesday 4th of May. Students are asked to bring in between $3 and $10 to purchase a small gift for their mum. The stall will be set up from recess to lunch in the undercover area, with Junior Classes assisted by their class teachers.

Change of Pupil Free Day

Please note that due to some scheduling issues, the Pupil Free Day originally planned for Wednesday 8th of June has been rescheduled to Friday 3rd of June. Students will return to school on Wednesday 8th of June after WA Day (Monday) and Pupil Free Day (Tuesday).
