St Matthew’s School Narrogin

Confirmation

Our school community came together to celebrate with our Confirmation candidates from the school and the parish on Sunday 27 October. The children were well prepared by Mrs Kilpatrick, Miss Montgomery and Sr Sahaya. All Sacraments are Parish-based celebrations of our faith.  Thank you to Father Abraham for his leadership and preparation of this Mass.

God bless:

Peter Scott Literacy Award

In 2018, St Matthew’s School celebrated 100 years of Catholic Education. Mr Peter Scott, a former student at St Matthew’s, provided a generous donation to continue to enhance Literacy in our school. This donation has enabled us to fund the Peter Scott Literacy Award until 2028.

This year, all students from Years 1 to 6, have completed a narrative based on the theme of “Adventure Bear”. The class teacher chose the top 5 narratives and Petrina Scott, daughter of Peter Scott chose the winners of the Peter Scott Literacy Award for each year level.

Socktober

On Wednesday the 30th of October all students (K-6) participated in a Socktober fundraiser in line with other Catholic schools in Western Australia. Socktober encapsulates a wide range of fundraising initiatives delivered by Catholic Schools in the month of October. Such fundraising events raise awareness of the missionary work and raise money for Catholic missions and social justice ventures.

St Matthew’s students were asked to bring/donate coins to contribute to a collaborative coin artwork on our school basketball court. The donated coins were combined and all children contributed to the final product. We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $430 for this worthy charity. Along with creating this artwork, students participated in rotations that focussed on Socktober initiatives, including Water relays to focus on water scarcity, Mongolian missions and the importance of service.

Art Awards

The Art Award for Week 4 went to Sienna (Yr 5) for her wonderful Octopus art piece.  Congratulations, Sienna!

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all our Honour Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you.
