Holy Week

The week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, Holy Week, is the most sacred time of year. As Holy Week occurred during the school holidays this year, our parents were invited to join us for Stations of the Cross on Thursday 2 April and a He Is Risen Prayer Service on Tuesday 21 April.

Year 6 Fundraising

To finish the term, our Year 6 students and families successfully ran an Easter Raffle. The raffle featured a wonderful variety of prizes, including chocolate hampers, soft toys, craft items and other exciting rewards. Congratulations to all of the winners, who were announced at school and published on the school app.

The Year 6 class would like to sincerely thank all families who supported their fundraising efforts throughout the year. Thanks to this generosity, they have raised a total of $1,173.45, which will contribute positively to their end‑of‑year activities.

Sacrament of Confirmation

On Saturday night, 2 May, students from our community celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Matthew’s Parish. This was a significant and faith‑filled occasion, and we are extremely proud of all students who took this important step in their spiritual journey.

We extend our sincere thanks to Bishop George and Father Joe, as well as the dedicated staff of St Matthew’s School, who supported this important celebration. A special thank you is also extended to Miss Montgomery, Miss Bone, Sr Sahaya and Mrs Hetherington for their commitment and care in preparing the students for this meaningful sacrament.

Tasty Science for PP

A tasty finish to our term in food technology, the Pre-primaries got to make mini pizzas! We’ve been learning about where food comes from, if it is plant or animal-based and the processes some everyday foods go through before they end up in the supermarket. We were able to pick some basil from our veggie garden, and some of the children enjoyed it on their pizza whilst others were just happy to have a smell.

ANZAC Ceremony Representation

St Matthew’s School was proudly represented at the Narrogin Community ANZAC Ceremony by Year 6 Communication Captain, Milly and Year 6 Service Captain, Maggie. Organised by the RSL, the ceremony was well attended and provided an important opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance.

The ceremony was opened with a prayer led by Father Joe, setting a reflective and respectful tone for the commemoration. We commend Milly and Maggie for representing our school with maturity and respect on this significant occasion and thank them for honouring those who have served our country.
