Yr 2 Mathematicians
Last Thursday in Maths, the Year 2 class completed an assessment to show their understanding of measuring length using informal units (cubes). They measured 4 different classroom items (book, pencil case, whiteboard marker and glue stick) and took photos using the iPads to show their measuring. They then created a pic collage using their digital technology skills before answering some measurement comparison questions. Everyone worked fantastically. It was brilliant to see everyone really engaged and on task. Great work, Year Two!
Winter Carnival Congratulations
On Thursday 2 July, our Year 4 to 6 students participated in the Winter Carnival and represented St Matthew’s School with enthusiasm, sportsmanship and determination. We are incredibly proud of their outstanding achievements:
Soccer – 1st Place
Hockey – 1st Place
Football – 4th Place
Netball A – Shield Winners
Netball C – Shield Winners and Runners-Up
These excellent results reflect the hard work, teamwork and dedication of all our students, both on and off the field.
Mrs Moulton was extremely proud of all our competitors for the way they represented the school throughout the day. Their positive attitudes, encouragement of teammates and commitment to doing their best were a credit to themselves and our school community.

NAIDOC Week Learning
Last week, all classes participated in a variety of NAIDOC Week learning experiences, developing their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. From Year 1 to Year 6, each class investigated one of the six Noongar seasons, exploring the unique characteristics, environmental changes and cultural significance of each season.
Students proudly shared their learning with the school community during Friday’s assembly. Their presentations demonstrated not only their knowledge and creativity but also their respect for the rich cultural heritage of the Noongar people.
We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by all students throughout the week and look forward to continuing our learning journey. St Matthew’s School will also be participating in the community NAIDOC celebrations in September, providing another wonderful opportunity to connect with and celebrate Aboriginal culture within our local community.
Art Award
The Art Award for Week 2 went to Genevieve(Year 4) for her funky shoe design inspired by advertising and pop culture. Congratulations, Genevieve!
