Teddy Bears Hospital

On 14 March, the Teddy Bear Hospital visited our Pre-Primaries and Year Ones. This is a community program that was developed to provide children with positive healthcare experiences, ease fears or anxiety associated with doctor or hospital visits, promote health and wellbeing, and increase health awareness. The project is supported by the Medical Students’ Association of Notre Dame and will be run by graduate entry medical students in the first at the University of Notre Dame Fremantle and second-year students from Curtin University.

WaterFun Day

Our Pre-Primaries to Year 2 students participated in a WaterFun Day on 12 March. This included waterbomb relays, a slip ‘n’ slide and our awesome inflatable waterslide. A big thank you to the Junior Primary teachers for organising this fun day.

Faction Swimming Carnival

The annual Faction Swimming Carnival was held at Narrogin Leisure Centre on 12 March for students in Years 3 to 6. A huge thank you must go to all the parent volunteers who gave up their time to make it an especially memorable day for the students. The day was filled with deafening cheering as the children encouraged their teammates in the water. The Spirit Trophy was awarded to Phelan for their organisation and sportsmanship on the day. This year Gibney took the overall win.

Gibney – 529 points

Phelan – 455 points

McFall – 390 points

We would also like to thank the community members who provided us with feedback following the carnival. I know our families appreciate the many hours of planning that go into ensuring our students have a fun and safe day. There was some concern expressed about the lack of a podium this year. Unfortunately, St Matthew’s does not have its own podium and we were unable to borrow one this year. We will endeavour to solve this problem for next year’s carnival.

MiniVinnies Spreading Easter Cheer

On Friday 22 March, Sr Sahaya organised a lovely excursion for 10 of our MiniVinnies volunteers to visit Jessie House/Homecare to help spread Easter cheer. The children made Easter baskets, and went on an Easter Egg hunt. Some of our students also performed for the clients.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon for all involved. MiniVinnies will visit Karinya on Tuesday.

Chrism Mass

Year 6 Confirmation candidates celebrated the Chrism Mass on Thursday 21 March in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Bunbury. Mr Muto and Mrs Lange accompanied our students to this very special Mass.

Art Award

The Art Award for Week 6 went to Darcy (Yr 3) for his lovely shamrock. Congratulations, Darcy!

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all our Honour Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you.
