As students of St Matthew’s School, we understand that all members of our school community
need to follow a Code of Conduct for the safety and well-being of everybody as we strive to show
concern for God, self, others and our environment.

Anaphylaxis is potentially life threatening and always requires an emergency response. The St Matthew’s Anaphylaxis Policy has been developed to ensure that every reasonable effort is made to minimise the exposure of students at risk of an allergic reaction to known allergens within the school environment or whilst attending an official school excursion.

Crunch & Sip break is a set break for students to eat fruit or salad vegetables and drink water in the classroom.

Disputes and Complaints Policy
The School Education Act requires an educational system to have a means by which disputes and complaint about the provision of education are resolved. The staff of St Matthew’s School are committed to working harmoniously together in order to build community through respecting the rights and responsibilities of each other.

Healthy Food and Drink Choices

Homework is an integral part of a child’s education. It promotes a relationship that helps maintain communication between school and home on the child’s academic growth, and reinforces basic skills and concepts that have been taught in class.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is utilised in schools for learning, teaching and administration. The availability of such resources provides the opportunity for schools to help students develop their full potential.

Digital Devices, such as mobile phones, smart watches, iPads and iPods, are part of modern society and the school accepts that many students will possess these devices. There are times when it may be genuinely appropriate and useful for students to have access to them. However, ever-changing technology presents a number of challenges to the school environment.

School Camp & Excursion
School camps and excursions can be an integral part of the educational programe of the school, and serve to provide opportunities and experiences that are not always possible within the confines of the school.

School Fees: Setting and Collection
The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) has a responsibility to make a Catholic education available to all Catholic students whose parents seek a Catholic education for them, insofar as this is possible, while embodying the Church’s preferential option for the poor and disadvantaged (Mandate page 50).

St Matthew’s school exists to further the mission of the Church. In Western Australia, the Mandate of the Bishops requires the Catholic Education Commission of WA to make Catholic school education available to all Catholic children, insofar as this is possible.

Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Research indicates that childhood and adolescent sun exposure is an important contributing factor to the development of skin cancer. As students are at school during times when UV radiation levels are highest, schools play a major role in minimising students’ UV exposure.
